artist statement

Oliver is a writer and filmmaker from Los Angeles, California. ​Oliver graduated magna cum laude from Emerson College with a BFA in Media Arts Production and a minor in literature. He was the 2023-2024 recipient of Emerson College's Jonathan Hart Friedenberg Award.

As a writer, Oliver is drawn to stories that confront the bleak realities of our daily lives. His characters are miserable and flawed -- who among us isn't? -- but there is always a glimmer of hope on the horizon. His stories reflect the importance of community, empathy, and perseverance -- even in the face of certain destruction. 

Oliver is driven by themes of masculinity, desire, queer identity, isolation, and the environment. His fiction is published or forthcoming in various literary journals, including Heavy Feather Review, Free Flash Fiction, BULL Magazine​, and Bright Flash Literary Review.
