artist statement

Oliver is a writer and filmmaker from Los Angeles, California. ​Oliver recently graduated magna cum laude from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, with a BFA in Media Arts Production and a minor in literature. He was the 2023-2024 recipient of Emerson College's Jonathan Hart Friedenberg Award -- a distinction given to a film production student who shows commitment to their classmates and craft.

As a filmmaker, Oliver is drawn to stories that confront the bleak realities of our daily lives. His characters are miserable and flawed -- who among us isn't? -- but there is always a glimmer of hope on the horizon. Oliver is passionate about storytelling and the ways in which film can uniquely comment on the human experience. His stories reflect the importance of community, empathy, and perseverance -- even in the face of certain destruction. 

Oliver's works typically deal with themes of masculinity, desire, queer identity, isolation, and the environment.
